I got this idea from one of my reading groups, I can’t remember which one, but it sounded pretty cool. So here is the gist: Make a list of books in alphabetical order by book title and read them over the course of one year. I have to be honest, I will not accomplish this challenge in one year, so I’m giving myself 24 months (this may take longer) to complete.
The only rule to this challenge is one book by one author, in other words no multiple books by the same author.
Here is my list:
A – The Ark by Boyd Morrison
B- Byzantium by Michael Ennis
C- Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict by Laurie Viera Rigler
D- The Descendants by Kaui Hart Hemmings
E- Everything is Illuminiated by Jonathan Safran Foer
F- From Dust and Ashes by Tricia Goyer
G- The Good German by Jospeh Kanon
H- Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford
I- In the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Ratner
J- Jacob’s Courage by Charles Weinblatt
K- Kitty Foyle by Christopher Morley
L- Lusitania by David Butler
M- Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
N- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
O- Outfoxed by Rita Mae Brown
P- Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow
Q-Queen’s Gift by Inglis Fletcher
R- Room by Emma Donoghue
S- Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
T- The Three Weissmanns of Westport by Cathleen Schine
U-The Uncrowned Queen by Posie Graeme-Evans
V- Virgin by Robin Maxwell
W- When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka
X- The Xibalba Murders by Lyn Hamiliton (it was either this or X-Men, a novelization of the movie!)
Y- Ya-Yas in Bloom by Rebecca Wells
Z – Zorro by Isabel Allende
Compiling this list was easier than I imagined. For instance, who knew there were so many book titles starting with the letter W? X was a bit tricky though, I have to tell you. Maybe once I accomplish this list, I’ll do one in alphabetical order by author.
Do lists help motivate you to read more? If so, how do you organize your to-be-read shelf? What’s on your reading list this coming year?
